Former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been arrested in London on Friday, October 2, over corruption related offenses.
Alison served as the Petroleum minister during Goodluck Jonathan’s regime as the president of Nigeria
However, The British High Commission have confirmed that some arrests have been made on basis of corruption, but are yet to reveal the identity of those involved.
The Press and Public Affairs Officer of The National Crime Agency Joseph Abuku, said:
“This morning, five people between the ages of 21 and 60 were arrested on suspicion of bribery and corruption offences. The crimes are being investigated by the National Crime Agency.” The National Crime Agency does not confirm identity of arrest nor provide information that could be used to corroborate the identity of an arrested individual.”
The UK National Crime Agency is also currently investigating Mrs. Alison-Madueke who has been out of the country since Buhari has been sworn in as president.
Ex-minister, Deziani was released on bail after about six hours of being detained, report says the London Police have confirmed that the former minister would be charged to court for money laundering.
She was arrested in London on Friday along with four other persons in relation to corruption allegations being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency.
