Wasiu Ayinde popularly known as Kwam 1 was detained at the Ogun state police command for leading the abrupt firing of gun shots on a student of the Olabisi Onabanlo University Ago-Iwoye.
The popular fuji icon arrived the Eleweran police command headquarters at 11a.m and was held and interrogated by police operatives attached to the Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Bureau till 6p.m
The student of Business Education, identified as Azeez Kofoworola, was reportedly shot on Saturday, October 10 (about three weeks ago) by one of the band members of Wasiu, the incident led to abrupt suspension of the show which was scheduled to hold at limelight hotel in Ago-Iwoye during a party organised by the owner of the hotel to mark the Ago-Iwoye day.
Kofoworola was allegedly hit by the bullet fired by King Wasiu Ayinde’s band members while sitting inside an unregistered Honda Accord car belonging to Hassan Afeez, an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
Kwam 1, who was earlier invited by the Police for interrogation and had reportedly refused, but responded to the invitation when the Police authority threatened to place and declare him wanted if he had failed to appear before the Police on October 27.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the interrogation, stating that Wasiu’s case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Bureau on the order of the Commissioner of Police.
Oyeyemi added that the fuji icon promised to make himself available for further police investigation when needed.
The fuji master had earlier denied any involvement with the shooting incident in an official statement he had released following the incident.
The victim of the shot has since been admitted at the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, for treatment.
