The richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote continue to stress on the need to acquire the London-based Football Club ‘Arsenal’
Dangote made his intentions known to the world when he revealed to Bloomberg Television that within the next three to four years, he would be the Boss to Arsenal football club.
upon acquiring the FC, which would make him the first African owner of a football team in England’s Premier League, the business tycoon acknowledge that their are challenges opposing his desires and he intend to turn things around in the club.
Bloomberg TV also affirm that “There’s no doubt” he’ll buy Arsenal and “it’s not a problem of money”.
“Maybe in three to four years. The issue is that we have more challenging headwinds. I need to get those out the way first and start having tailwinds. Then I’ll focus on this,” Dangote said.
“It’s not about buying Arsenal and just continuing with business as usual. It’s about buying Arsenal and turning it around. I’ve run a very successful business and I think I can also run a very successful team,” Dangote added.
Dangote assures that He is not giving up on the plans to buy the team after he was rebuffed by its owners in 2010.
He also attempted to proceed with procuring the club when he announced his intention to buy the club sometime last year.
The Chairman, Dangote group said he needs to wait for his business prospects to improve and his investments in gas pipelines and an oil refinery to play out before making the acquisition yet again.
