Popular Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike and his wife, Suzanne Emma has been set apart in marriage.
The couple parted ways at a Lagos Island Customary Court, South West Nigeria, after the 17 year-old marriage was dissolved.
Chief Awo Awosola presided over the three-man panel cosisting of: Mrs. Opeyemi Olanrewaju and Mr Kehinde Jacob Olayinka, which dissolved the marriage in a judgment following a petition filed by Suzanne.
“From all evidence before the court, the marriage between the couple had broken down, and it is irreconcilable, consequently, the marriage is hereby dissolved”, said the court.
Emeka Ike was granted the custody of their four children, with Suzanne having full access to the four children.
It was also reported that Susan had earlier refunded the bride price of N300 to Emeka Ike, as seen in a photocopy of a bank draft dated July 20, 2016, which the court also received.
The petition filed before the court accused Emeka of incessant beating, molestation, and torture, which Susan said she could no longer endure.
Emeka in a response denied beating, molesting or torturing his wife. In his character mode, Emeka urged the court not to dissolve the marriage, informing the court that Susan had moved out of their matrimonial home five times without any reason.
He also told the court that the only time ‘devil’ entered their marriage, was when his wife paid for the children’s school fees.
Either Suzanne or Emeka Ike has 30 days to appeal.
