Tidal hosted their third annual charity concert at the Brooklyn Barclays Center and it was a star-studded times of our lives.
The “Tidal X Brooklyn” a Jay Z owned company benefit was hosted by Angie Martinez and featured Nigerian afrobeats star Mr Eazi who thrilled the crowd with a performance of his hit songs.
The show which was streamed live on Tidal also included performances by Tidal owner JAY-Z, Chris Brown, Cardi B, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, Vic Mensa, A$AP Rocky, Fifth Harmony and many more.
Beyonce did not perform on the night but turned head with her appearance on the red carpet.
Chris Brown electrified concertgoers with a 15-minute dance-heavy medley of hits, including “Loyal,” “Party,” “Pills & Automobiles,” and “Questions.”
Jennifer Lopez, who performed over the weekend at the Puerto Rico disaster relief concert “One Voice: Somos Live!” celebrated her Bronx roots during a show-stopping performance, which included hits like “I’m Real,” “Jenny From the Block,” and “Feelin’ So Good,” for which she was joined by Fat Joe.
JAY-Z, whose wife Beyoncé was on hand to support, addressed the value of giving during his set, which included a mixture of old and new songs from his storied discography, including “Empire State of Mind,” “Public Service Announcement,” and “Bam.”
“We sent five planes out to Puerto Rico,” said the Roc Nation boss. “We helped people in Houston, Mexico, and the Caribbean islands, as well. It was only possible because of all you people in here tonight, everybody that donated.”
He then introduced “the eighth wonder of the world,” Stevie Wonder, who closed out the celebration of unity and love, performing classics like “Superstition” and “Love’s in Need of Love Today.” “Yeah, I took a knee,” said the legendary singer. “I took two knees. One was for the unity of this nation. Tonight, I celebrate this night of giving.”
